Two weeks left for the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards

Two weeks left for your nominations for the 12th BBC Food and Farming awards. Sheila Dillon (Radio 4’s Food program chief, who called BigBarn an “Outstanding achievement”) said of this year’s awards:

“We are searching for the best, most inspiring food producers, farmers, markets, caterers, campaigners and retailers in a miasma of economic gloom. Food inflation on the high street and record-breaking commodity prices are headline news alongside sombre reports of belt-tightening and job losses all around. So, a bad time to be looking for and celebrating the best?

We think not. That’s why we’re keen to receive your nominations for this year’s Food & Farming Awards.” To read the rest of Sheila’s article, and nominate click here.

With BigBarn’s Cheaper than the Supermarket, and Crop for the Shop initiatives, proving that local food is better and cheaper than the supermarket, the economic gloom is a great time to get people to leave the supermarket and shop locally. All encouraging more local production and reducing prices with economies of scale. Exciting times!

If you are inspired by what we are doing at BigBarn please nominate us in the Derek Cooper category. And if you are stuck for words whilst nominating here is a link to our latest ‘About Us’ video.
